Firestone Walker Brewing Company is calling their new limited Solace a fusion wheat and who am I to argue? The first word to catch my eye on the packaging was “unfiltered” That got my attention, the 6% ABV got my curiosity and that is the only combination necessary to make me buy beer. Get my curiousity, get my attention, and you’ve got my money.
It pours a solid cloudy golden orange. Darker than I’d expect from an America wheat which is perhaps part of the fusion? It’s got the citrus and clove spice I’m use to in a Hefe, but oh there’s something more. You know that taste you get in Belgian beers? This has a mild version of that. If I knew someone who loved wheat’s but wasn’t into Belgians I would use this beer to wean them onto Belgians.
The web site says it goes with south of the border food? I’m having a bbq lean cuisine quesadilla and they word delightfully you.
P.S. I know it’s 8 am…The Beer Girl works nights so this is simply dinner and a night cap. Thank you Firestone!

Hey Pookie… Cool webpage. I like it! I got a little sidetracked while reading your blog and I never made it to the end. I’m sure you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me. But as promised, I wanted to drop by and leave a parting gift. How do you translate a fart into text? Prrrrtttt!
Exciting, I’m gonna try some tomorrow. Also, Blue Palms Brewhouse in Hollywood is taping Solace tonight!
I love Hefes and I love Belgians, I have to try this beer.
I show it’s in your neighborhood, here is the google map. I recommend bringing a spear. Good Beer hunting.
